I love this time of year. It makes me happy to see all of the seedlings coming up around my house. Spring is the “reset” month after the “outage” of winter.

I’ve been listening to my old recordings lately and have fallen in love with Pour Out My Heart all over again. I love the old songs and it seems as though they’ve fallen out of use recently. I like to play a mixture of songs anyway. The old and the new can be mixed to create a fertile ground for worship and connection with God.

On the CD front there has been no movement. I’ve taken a short sabbatical from leading worship at Calvary Chapel Boise. I’m supposed to return to regular rotation sometime in May. In the meantime I took a month to rest and relax. I desperately needed a detox from busyness and the time I took off really helped. Last week I started leading worship again. I went to Calvary Chapel Emmett and it was great to be “back in the saddle” as it were. This morning I lead at Calvary Chapel Kuna and I will be there for Easter as well.

I’m planning on recording more videos. The busyness of my life was such that I got off schedule  and once that happens it’s nearly impossible for me to get back on track. Starting next week I’ll be releasing a new recording each week on my YouTube channel. You can make song requests via the Contact page (click to go there). Choose the “YouTube Song Request” category.

So I’ve learned that finger picking is NOT very easy for me. I usually default to strumming everything because that’s my strength, but lately I’ve been wanting to expand my skills.

That being said, all you who can finger pick, enjoy, because I stink at it.

I found a website that I’ve been pulling from. Simple things really. For those of you playing at home, I’m starting with the basics.

I’ve attached the sheet I’m currently working on. I’ve pretty much mastered the good ole P-M-I-A form. I used it on Jesus Be the Center on You Wait and Again I Come. That is the extent of my finger picking knowledge. I could blame my mother (hee hee) but really I’m just incredibly lazy when it comes to practicing.

So I’m turning over a new leaf.

I’m going to practice.
